However if carbon emissions maintain their current trajectories sea levels will rise an extra 26 centimeters compared to the mitigated trajectory by 2100.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers analyzed earth systems models under the two trajectories to compare the effects stringent carbon emissions mitigation will likely have in the future.<\/p>\n<p>They believe these effects will increase due to other human-induced changes, such as overfishing, pollution, and sea-based resource exploitation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencemag.org\/content\/349\/6243\/aac4722\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Original research paper<\/span><\/a>\u00a0published in <em>Science <\/em>on\u00a0<strong>July 3<\/strong><span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_453723367\"><span class=\"aQJ\"><strong>, 2015<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>Names and affiliations of selected\u00a0authors<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>J.-P.
