The analysis showed that children up to two years of age died in car seats while deaths in other carrying devices occurred in infants up to eight months old.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers note that when a car seat is used in a car with correctly attached straps, an infant child is at little risk of injury by suffocation.<\/p>\n<p>They make several recommendations including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Never leave children unsupervised in a sitting or carrying device;<\/li>\n<li>Always buckle every strap properly when placing a child in a car seat, stroller, or bouncer;<\/li>\n<li>Always ensure the child\u2019s face is fully \u201cvisible and kissable\u201d at all times when using a sling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpeds.com\/pb\/assets\/raw\/Health%20Advance\/journals\/ympd\/JPEDSBatra.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Original research paper<\/span><\/a>\u00a0published in the\u00a0<em>Journal of Pediatrics\u00a0<\/em>on\u00a0<strong>April 27<\/strong><span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_453723367\"><span class=\"aQJ\"><strong>, 2015<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>Names and affiliations of selected\u00a0authors<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Erich K.
