The Science Media Centre of Canada&#8217;s Executive Director, Penny Park, was included in the panel.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Agenda<\/em> has additionally created an online quiz (available <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theagenda.tvo.org\/blog\/agenda-blogs\/how-does-your-science-knowledge-stack\" target=\"_blank\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/theagenda.tvo.org\/blog\/agenda-blogs\/how-does-your-science-knowledge-stack\">here<\/a><\/span>) for viewers to\u00a0test how scientifically literate they are. The episode was inspired by a report on science culture in Canada published by\u00a0The Council of Canadian Academies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Watch the episode here<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Oark1nLnYxk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The report,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceadvice.ca\/uploads\/eng\/assessments%20and%20publications%20and%20news%20releases\/science-culture\/scienceculture_fullreporten.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Science Culture: Where Canada Stands<\/span><\/a><\/em>, found that 42 per cent of Canadians are able to understand an in-depth newspaper story about a scientific discovery, while 93 per cent of Canadians report they are very interested or moderately interested in new scientific discoveries. In both\u00a0categories\u00a0Canada was the highest ranked nation included in the survey.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Canadians express above-average levels of support for public funding of scientific research, and a strong majority of Canadians view science and technology as important in pursuing a range of social objectives such as environmental protection and improving Canada\u2019s economic prospects.
