Children born to the youngest mothers have the highest risk of developmental vulnerabilities at age 5, largely due to socio-economic factors. Although the risk of developmental vulnerabilities declined with every additional year of a mother’s age up to 30 years, risk increased slightly for children born to mothers aged 35 years and older, similar to children born to mothers in their early twenties.
