Genome Canada and The Canada Gairdner International Awards are hosting a conference and gala dinner event exploring the theme “Genomics: the Power & the Promise“. The conference will explore how genomics has affected our daily lives, as well as the impacts of environmental factors on human health.

Held at the Ottawa Convention Centre between November 24 – 26, 2014, the conference features the following four sessions;

  1. “Genomic Medicine: an update on the human genome project and what it means for personalized medicine and health care systems
  2. Environmental impacts on human health (including the roles of the epigenome and microbiome)
  3. How the natural resource and agriculture sectors can adapt to environmental factors
  4. Challenges of Canada’s non-renewable natural resource sectors and opportunities for genomics to contribute to their profitability and sustainability”

The conference also features a Gala dinner on Nov. 25, with high-profile researchers and members of Canada’s federal government expected to attend.
