A new simulation of the impact of climate change on the supply of agricultural land shows that suitable cropland will expand in Canada, Russia, China and other countries in the high latitudes of the Northern hemisphere. On the other hand the authors project a significant loss of highly fertile cropland in the Mediterranean regions and in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Authors conclude that the global proportion of highly fertile land used for crop production will decrease over the course of the 21st century.
