The Science Media Centre of Canada values the generous support from all of our donors and sponsors. Our funders include members of the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors as well as universities and Research Hospitals.
The SMCC is committed to fundraising practices that respect donor’s right to truthful information and privacy. It has adopted the Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code set out by Imagine Canada. The SMCC Board is committed to being responsible custodians of donated funds, and exercising due care in the governance of fundraising and financial reporting. In so doing, they ensure adherence to our bylaws that stipulate that no more than 10% of our funding of the SMCC operating budget can come from any single source, and no more than 30% from any single sector. This ensures our total independence and objectivity.
All SMCC activities and services are made possible through the generous contributions of our supporters. The SMCC is a not-for-profit charitable organization that relies on its Patrons to sustain its operations. It takes sustained financial resources to deliver the 24/7 services we provide and to support our goal of improving the quality and quantity of coverage of science, medical, engineering and environmental topics in Canadian media.
We continue to need the support of organizations and individuals if we are to fulfill our mission. This is where you come in.
If you would like to be part of our goal in improving the quality and quantity of media coverage of science, please consider making a donation to the Science Media Centre of Canada. No matter how you choose to give, you are eligible for a tax receipt.
Thank you for your support.
